Litigation/Planning & Environmental - Associate/Senior Associate

Due to continued, consistent growth – our Disputes and Regulatory Team are seeking to appoint a lawyer with subject matter expertise and experience in planning and environmental law.

If you have 3-8 years relevant PQE from a top or mid-tier law firm, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for agile and adaptable candidates that have both contentious and advisory experience who can handle working a varied and/or complex workload at Associate and/or Senior Associate level.  Candidates should also have a strong academic track record.

The successful Associate/Senior Associate to work in the litigation and disputes department with a primary focus on the following:

  • Contentious and non-contentious planning and environmental law.
  • Representing clients in planning and environmental related High Court judicial review actions. 
  • Legislative interpretation and advices. 
  • Monitoring and responding to developments in planning and environmental law. 
  • Providing support to other business units as required.
  • Providing ongoing training and support to clients. 

The successful candidate will have: 

  • 5+ years’ experience with a background in litigation and planning and environmental law. 
  • Experience of defending judicial review proceedings on behalf of public bodies and managing litigation case load. 
  • Familiarity with the workings of the Commercial Planning and Environmental List.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent technical/drafting skills, an ability to communicate with clients clearly and concisely and to tailor advices to fit specific client requirements.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational, financial and time management skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team. 
  • A high level of motivation and the ability to work on one’s own initiative and a willingness to engage in the ongoing learning and development of the team.
