Daniel Lawlor is a Consultant and Head of the ByrneWallace LLP Financial Services team and was appointed in May 2022.
Daniel is a financial services regulatory expert with 20 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He trained as a financial services lawyer, with a focus on investment funds, in another leading Irish law firm. In 2010 he joined the Central Bank of Ireland where he was the Head of the Funds Policy Team. In that role, he was involved in designing and drafting investment industry regulatory initiatives in Ireland. This work included being the Central Bank’s project lead on CP86 – Fund Management Company Effectiveness. Daniel also has experience of the broader international investment industry having represented the Central Bank of Ireland at IOSCO and ESMA committees. He was a member of the FSB’s team for the peer review of Brazil in 2016.
Recent Experience
- Supporting application for authorisation of MiFID firm.
- Supporting application for authorisation of Electronic Money Institute.
- Advising client in relation to application of Markets in Crypto Asset Regulations.
- Ongoing regulatory advice to financial services firms across a number of sectors including investment funds, fund management companies, retail credit firms, insurance undertakings and payment institutions.
