Profile Elaine is Legal Counsel in the ByrneWallace EU, Competition and Regulated Markets team

Having worked for a number of large firms in Brussels and with over 5 years’ experience as an EU, Competition and Regulatory lawyer, Elaine has extensive experience in EU and Irish law and particularly in competition, procurement and regulatory law. She also has significant experience in the waste, construction, energy, healthcare and fuel sectors. 

Her activities include advising on merger control, public procurement, and market investigations by both the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission and the European Commission. Other key activities include advising on regulatory aspects of transactions, specialist litigation and competition compliance/dawn raid issues. 

Elaine is currently a Committee member of the Irish Society of European Law. Prior to joining ByrneWallace, Elaine worked in the EU, Competition and Regulatory Markets department at a leading Irish law firm.

Key Experience

  • Advised Panda Waste on competition and merger control during the course of its Phase 2 acquisition of Greenstar.

  • Advising on a wide range of vertical compliance issues including on selective and exclusive distribution agreements, franchise agreements and agency agreements.

  • Advised a leading international law firm on their client’s obligations in Ireland under the Energy Efficiency Directive.

  • Advising local authorities on public procurement processes.
