William Johnston is a Consultant in the ByrneWallace LLP Banking & Finance Team.
William is recognised as one Ireland’s pre-eminent lawyers in banking & finance law. A former partner with another large Dublin law firm for 30 years, William has extensive knowledge, expertise and practice advising on banking, capital markets and financial regulation.
The first chair from Ireland of the International Bar Association’s Banking Law Division, William is the Law Society’s external examiner in banking law. His publications include "Banking and Security Law in Ireland”, a comprehensive work on the law in practice.
William is currently Honorary Secretary and Board member of the National Maternity Hospital, a member of the Governing Body and Chair of the Finance and Property Committee of Technological University Dublin and member of the Boards and Audit and Risk Committees of Housing Finance Agency plc and Port of Waterford Company.
