My first exposure to ByrneWallace was through their Summer Internship programme where I was placed in the Corporate Department. My positive experience as an intern made the decision process a lot easier when it came to deciding where I wanted to complete my traineeship.
During my internship, I was introduced to the culture and character of ByrneWallace. It was evident to me that staff at all levels were accessible, attentive and willing to assist in my development. I had been told that the training I would receive in ByrneWallace would be thorough, hands-on and diverse, and as a current trainee solicitor, this is something I can now attest to.
ByrneWallace has a well-respected trainee solicitor programme. There is a strong commitment to both mentoring and empowering trainee solicitors to ensure we get the utmost from our training. Trainee solicitors are encouraged to mould their own experience and seek work in areas that interests them. There is plenty of scope within departmental rotations to avail of a significant variety of work. Not only do you leave a rotation with a well-rounded understanding of that practice area, you are also provided with the opportunity to experience a number of other practice areas.
Describe your rotations to date
My first rotation as a trainee solicitor was in the Corporate Department. This allowed me to ease back into ByrneWallace as I was already familiar with the people and processes from my internship. I am currently in the Commercial Litigation Department. The nature of the Commercial Litigation Department is fast paced and incredibly exciting. I have been fortunate enough to have spent a significant amount of time in every court from the Central Criminal Courts to the High Court and everything in between. I have been involved in extremely interesting cases from defamation proceedings of national interest to an eleventh hour emergency injunction application. The work I am given is often challenging but always rewarding.
Future at ByrneWallace
I hope to continue my learning and development over the remainder of my traineeship. I also hope to continue to diversify my training and to continue to develop my competencies as a ByrneWallace trainee solicitor.
