ByrneWallace strengthens senior team with four new partner appointments

ByrneWallace is pleased to announce the continued growth and development of the firm’s banking & finance, employment, litigation and regulatory teams with the appointment of four new partners. 

Elizabeth Ryan brings over 8 years’ experience advising on commercial lending transactions to the team. Elizabeth advises domestic and international lenders and borrowers on corporate lending, refinancing and debt restructuring. In recent years Elizabeth has also advised on a number of significant portfolio and individual loan sales and acquisitions. Having joined ByrneWallace in 2006 as a trainee, Elizabeth joined the Banking and Finance team in 2009.

Loughlin Deegan advises Irish and multi-national companies on contentious and non-contentious employment law matters. He has extensive experience as an advocate in the Labour Court and the Workplace Relations Commission. He has advised clients in contentious industrial disputes and has also represented clients in litigation under collective bargaining legislation. Prior to joining ByrneWallace in 2014, Loughlin served as Special Adviser to the Attorney General and was acting Head of Employment Law with Ibec.  Loughlin is the Vice Chairperson of the Employment and Equality Law Committee of the Law Society of Ireland.

Valerie Hourigan is an experienced litigator specialising mainly in property and landlord/tenant dispute resolution. With her background in property transactional work, Valerie has a true understanding of the contentious issues that arise in property matters. Valerie also has expertise in defamation – she has recently acted for clients in securing a number of Norwich Pharmacal orders against online social media platforms and a telecom provider to ascertain the identities of the posters of defamatory material on the internet.  

With significant experience in criminal law, Seán O’Donnell brings to the team over 11 years’ experience advising on regulatory enforcement, corporate crime, investigations and inquiries.  He works with regulatory bodies and corporates, and he represented clients in proceedings brought by many state regulators. He has also represented and advised state bodies in investigations and inquiries. Seán advises on Data Protection Law, and in preparing for the new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
