institutions for a discussion on Transforming Culture in Regulated Financial
Services in Ireland.
Partner and Head of Financial Services at ByrneWallace, Joe
Gavin, and Associate, Sean Rooney, outlined the impact of Central Bank
legislation in rebalancing duties and responsibilities of regulated financial firms. They were joined by David Lawton, Managing Director and Jeremy Heales, Senior
Advisor from the London office
of Alvarez & Marsal, who provided an insight and guidance on what
can be learned from UK misconduct and UK supervisory experiences.
Keynote speaker, Dr Martin Moloney from the Central Bank of Ireland (“CBI”), provided an insight into the CBI’s current thinking on the challenges facing firms and their advisors in tackling culture as a regulatory risk. Dr Moloney made a policy statement on why the CBI is asking firms to focus on culture and naming culture as a cause of many of the regulatory problems we face.
