ByrneWallace LLP awarded Ireland’s Top Public Sector Legal Firm for fifth consecutive year

Tuesday, 05 October 2021

ByrneWallace LLP is pleased to announce that the firm has been honoured at The Excellence in Business Awards as Ireland's Top Legal Firm to the Public Sector for the fifth consecutive year.

Presented annually by Public Sector Magazine, The Excellence in Business Awards are awarded to companies and organisations who can demonstrate outstanding service, continuity, track record and general excellence in business as key providers to the Irish Public Sector, acknowledging the professionalism of these companies that excel in what they do.

Commenting on the Award, Managing Partner Feargal Brennan said, “ByrneWallace LLP is honoured to be recognised once again as Ireland’s top legal adviser to the public sector.

“For over 40 years, ByrneWallace LLP has been advising the public sector on their full range of legal needs, from advising on complex strategic projects, legal developments and novel litigation, to major public inquiries, legal proceedings, administrative law, and governance matters.

“During this time we have developed a deep understanding of the environment in which they work, their key challenges and requirements. We understand and appreciate that they operate under a high level of public scrutiny, within a highly regulated and pressurised environment, where transparency and good decision-making are key.

“ByrneWallace LLP has a strong culture of excellence and accountability, which resonates with our public sector clients. We invest substantial resources in order to provide the highest standard of service, insights and advice to meet, anticipate and exceed their evolving needs.”

Michelle Ní Longáin, Head of the firm's Public Sector Group said: “The public sector is one of our most significant practice areas across the firm with a strong, active and expanding client base.

“Our clients span the entire breadth of the public sector and include government departments; local government; regulatory bodies; universities; health, education, justice, utilities, environmental, energy, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, marine, culture, transport, tourism and industry bodies; state and semi-state organisations.

“We place huge value on the depth of the knowledge and relationships which we have built up over many years and which we can draw upon to inform how we advise upon new opportunities and matters as they arise.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has had a substantial impact on the public sector who have had to review and change what they do and how they deliver their services. This change has not been limited to health services, which have met extraordinary and unprecedented circumstances; all areas of the public sector have been affected.

“While the obligations to provide services are unchanged and in many cases increased, the demands and challenges in doing so have increased.

“The post-pandemic period will also involve significant transformation for the public sector in terms of what it does and how it operates. We in ByrneWallace LLP will be working closely with our clients in anticipating, designing and addressing how they meet the legal challenges that will arise.”

Feargal added, “Due to our in-depth expertise and full service offering, we believe that we are well positioned to support our clients during this interesting time of change and opportunity.”
