ByrneWallace sponsor the Export Industry Awards recognising excellence amongst Irish exporters

Tuesday, 23 July 2019

ByrneWallace is pleased to announce the firm’s sponsorship of the Export Industry Awards.

Now in its 19th year, the Export Industry Awards recognise the remarkable achievements of indigenous companies working in the export industry. There are 12 award categories which cover the full spectrum of Irish companies trading abroad, from emerging exporters to established indigenous exporters of manufactured goods, services, software, and onward to the multinational companies.

This year, two new award categories have been added. ByrneWallace is delighted to sponsor one of these new categories, the award for Private Irish Business of the Year. This award category recognises the exceptional performance and continuous growth of Irish privately and family-owned businesses either in the services or manufacturing sectors who trade abroad.

Commenting on the announcement, Head of Corporate Neil Keenan said, “As a leading business law firm, ByrneWallace has a long track record advising many of Ireland’s emerging and established businesses, across a broad range of industry sectors, who trade or have expanded their operations overseas.

“Exports are, of course, fundamental to Ireland’s global success. Given the current international trading climate, and increasing uncertainty caused by Brexit, the trading tensions between the U.S. and China, as well as other factors impacting on international trade, it is important to celebrate the success of Irish businesses who are overcoming these challenges and who are driving growth within this key sector of the Irish economy.

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to help recognise the outstanding achievements of Irish exporters, and particularly, help celebrate the success of Irish privately and family-owned businesses who are actively exporting abroad.”

Simon McKeever, CEO of Irish Exporters Association commented “Ireland’s export industry has been a story of resilience, innovation and success with Irish products and services renowned for their high quality across the globe. For the past 18 years, the Export Industry Awards have been the leading awards ceremony recognising the outstanding achievements of businesses exporting from Ireland. Despite the headwinds in the global trading environment caused by Brexit, the slowing Chinese economy and increased protectionism, according to CSO data, Ireland’s goods exports exceeded €140 billion in 2018, an annual increase of 14.8% – a new record and clear sign that Ireland Inc. and the Irish export industry continue to adapt and punch far above its weight!”

The Export Industry Awards are supported by a number of corporate and industry sponsors, including platinum sponsors KPMG, Facebook, Trinity Business School, Trinity College Dublin, as well as Bord Bia, ByrneWallace, DHL Global Forwarding, Dixon International Logistics, Enterprise Ireland, GS1 Ireland and media partner The Sunday Times.

The competition is currently open for entries, and to apply, companies can click here to submit their application.  Closing date for entries is Sunday 15 September. Shortlisted companies will be announced at the end of September, and the Award ceremony will take place on the 8 November in the Convention Centre Dublin.
