ByrneWallace sponsors the 2018 Annual Technology Ireland Industry Awards

Friday, 07 September 2018

ByrneWallace is pleased to announce its sponsorship, for the third consecutive year, of the Annual Technology Ireland Industry Awards, the flagship event run by Technology Ireland, the Ibec group that represents the tech sector in Ireland.

Now in its 26th year, the Awards recognise and celebrate Irish tech companies who have achieved exceptional success developing innovative digital technologies in Ireland over the past year, across nine different categories.

Commenting on the Awards, Feargal Brennan, recently appointed Managing Partner of ByrneWallace said, “As a leading corporate law firm, ByrneWallace has a long history advising many Irish and international technology companies across all stages of their development. The sector is thriving and we are delighted to have this opportunity once again to work with Technology Ireland and Ibec and to celebrate the outstanding achievements of Ireland’s most innovative and forward thinking entrepreneurs who are driving growth within this key sector of the Irish economy.”

Darren Daly, Corporate Partner and Head of Technology added, “These Awards are a testament  to the successful entrepreneurship and innovation of Irish companies operating within the technology sector and also recognise the depth of new talent emerging with this sector. For this reason, the firm is particularly proud to once again support the category of Emerging Company of the Year which recognises the most promising emerging new digital technology company in Ireland.”

This year the Awards also include a new category, “Women in Technology - Company Award” that will recognise a tech company that has demonstrated a strong commitment to attracting, retaining and developing women across its workforce.

Speaking at the launch, Una Fitzpatrick, the newly appointed Director of Technology Ireland stated: “A huge area of focus for Technology Ireland over the past number of years, and an issue particularly close to my own heart, has been the issue of female participation in the tech sector. Women are under-represented in our sector with only 19% of women employed in technology companies or in ICT roles in other industries.

“A continued commitment by industry is needed to increase the participation of women in senior roles and leadership positions. Increasing the number of women in technology has the potential to broaden the talent pipeline, boost company performance and foster more inclusive workplaces.”

Other sponsors of the Awards include Vhi Healthcare, Bank of Ireland, Enterprise Ireland, FIT ICT Association Professional, Technology Ireland Software Skillnet, and Technology Ireland ICT Skillnet.

All Irish software and digital technology companies are welcome to submit for their entries by 30 September. The nine award categories are:

  • Digital Technology Company of the Year
  • Emerging Technology Company of the Year
  • Technology Innovation of the Year
  • Outstanding Achievement in International Growth
  • Digital Technology Services Project of the Year
  • Women in Technology Company Award
  • Excellence in Talent Development Award
  • Multinational Corporation Initiative of the Year
