ByrneWallace expands litigation, and reputation and crisis management offering with new partner appointment

Tuesday, 22 January 2019

ByrneWallace is pleased to announce the continued expansion of the firm’s reputation management and crisis management teams with the appointment of new partner and corporate litigator Mark O’Shaughnessy.

Mark O’Shaughnessy specialises in advising Irish and international companies on business critical corporate disputes, providing early stage strategic and tactical advice to minimise corporate risk during a dispute. Reputation management is core to Mark's expertise and he has significant experience managing the corporate reputations of some of Ireland's leading companies and high profile individuals during times of crisis. A skilled corporate litigator, Mark also has extensive experience advising clients in the state and semi-state sectors in relation to regulatory investigations and dealing with key stakeholders.

Commenting on the appointment, Managing Partner Feargal Brennan said: “We are currently experiencing a significant growth in demand for reputation and corporate crisis management services. The general upsurge in corporate activity in the market brings with it both opportunities for a company, but also a greater risk from potential disputes and crises including shareholder disputes, insider trading, information leaks, data breaches, contract disputes and regulatory investigations. We have also experienced increased demand from our many public sector clients for reputation and crisis management services. In times of crisis, it is imperative for an organisation to act quickly and seek expert advice in order to minimise any potential reputation and financial damage that may arise from negative publicity.

“Mark's appointment demonstrates the firm’s on-going commitment to ensuring that ByrneWallace provides the very best legal service and support to our clients when managing their reputation and dealing with a corporate crisis. Furthermore, it will enhance and strengthen our corporate litigation and investigations offering. Mark will work closely with expert lawyers from our Litigation, Corporate, Employment, Healthcare, Property, and Banking & Finance teams to provide a fully integrated service, advising both the private and public sector.”

Jon Legorburu, Head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution added: “We have found over the last 12 months that regulators, regulated entities, public sector agencies/actors, and domestic and international companies are increasingly looking for pre-emptive advices in order to minimise their risks during corporate transactions and regulatory investigations.

“Mark's experience of dealing with business critical corporate disputes, combined with his expertise in managing corporate reputation, highlights our commitment to providing excellent services to our public and private clients, and I would like to welcome Mark to the ByrneWallace team."
