ByrneWallace host the Mayo Association Mentoring Breakfast WorkshopMonday, 04 March 2019
On Friday, 1 March, ByrneWallace was delighted to host the Mayo Association Networking and Mentoring workshop. With over 100 people in attendance, both mentors and mentees, the event was a great success.
The purpose of the event was to facilitate people from Mayo on the cusp of their professional careers (college students or those with up to 5 years’ experience in a given field) to learn from, network with, and receive advice from other Mayo people who are established in their careers across various industries and fields. These included accounting, law, management consultancy, public service, construction/engineering, PR/Marketing/Digital, Tech/Startup, medicine/pharma, and retail/commercial service providers.
During the event on Friday, over 100 students (mentees) and mentors were paired up, allowing for informal advice to be given, and contacts and networks to be established and strengthened.
With International Women’s Day taking place this week, guests had the honour of hearing from guest speaker - Dr Norah Patten, the Mayo aeronautical engineer who was the first Irish woman in space. Norah gave a speech about her career journey and highlighted the importance of networking and making connections.
