The Law Society – largely through its Conveyancing Committee – has been pursuing a reform agenda in a number of areas, not least of all in the sphere of conveyancing. Its approach has included changes to the both the law and practice affecting the current system of conveyancing, while pursuing e-Conveyancing as the ultimate optimal solution. Most recently it made a submission to Government calling for amendment to the Planning and Development Bill 2023 to allow for a new category of development entitled an ‘established non-conforming development’.

In their article published in this month’s Law Society Gazette ByrneWallace LLP Partner and Chair of Property Michael Walsh and Professional Support Lawyer Judith Cryan explore the topic. The aim, they say, is to reduce the excessive level of planning due diligence required in property and related transactions.
