Our Experience
- Advising the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on the requisite Environmental Impairment Liability (EIL) insurance policies required of licensed operators against the risk of potential environmental liabilities arising at licensed sites in Ireland including landfill, non-hazardous/hazardous waste transfer stations, incineration waste facilities and high risk contaminated land.
- Advised FBD in relation to High Court proceedings in Browne v FBD Insurance Group Limited and The Royal London Mutual Insurance Society Limited (2019/1462P). The proceedings centred on the refusal of Royal London, the Life Company, to pay out on a life assurance policy for reasons of nondisclosure of material medical facts during the policy application process.
- Acting for a number of self-insured clients in the defence of employers’ liability, public and motor liability claims.
- Advised Ireland’s leading Apple Premium Reseller, Select Technology Group, on the insurance issues arising from its acquisition of the household Irish name electrical appliances retail chain DID Electrical
- Advising commercial clients on policy coverage and recovery of losses in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Advising public bodies in Ireland on a range of insurance matters including strategic and complex advices regarding insurance, indemnity, liability, risk identification and mitigation.
- Advised the Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman (FSPO) in the defence of a number of appeals to the High Court concerning insurance providers.
- Provided advice to the tourism sector in Ireland as it navigated the insurance and risk issues presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
