ByrneWallace ranked as a top tier law firm by Legal 500 and Chambers Europe

ByrneWallace has once more been consistently recognised as a top tier firm in the latest rankings of Irish law firms published by the legal industry’s leading independent directories Legal 5001 and Chambers Europe2.

In the Legal 500 2017, the firm is ranked Top Tier in 3 practice areas -  Employment law, Healthcare & Life Sciences, and Public Sector - and recommended in 14 practice areas.

Ranked as a Leading Firm by Chambers Europe 2017, the firm’s Employment Law and Life Sciences practices are also recognised as top tier (Band 1), with the firm also ranked in 10 other practice areas.

The firm’s lawyers are highly commended, with 5 lawyers obtaining top rankings (including 2 lawyers achieving Pre-eminent and Senior Statesman status) in Chambers Europe, and 3 lawyers recognised as Leading Lawyers in Legal 500. These included:

  • Catherine Guy – Pre-eminent Lawyer (Chambers Europe)
  • Gary Byrne – Senior Statesman (Chambers Europe)
  • Michael Kennedy – Leading Lawyer (Legal 500) and Band 1 (Chambers Europe)
  • Colin Sainsbury -  Leading Lawyer (Legal 500) and Band 1 (Chambers Europe)
  • Michelle Ní Longáin - Band 1 (Chambers Europe)


A total of 26 lawyers are recommended across 17 practice areas in Legal 500, while 29 lawyers are ranked in Chambers Europe. Both directories also identified 3 Next Generation lawyers (Legal 500), 3 New & Up and Coming and 1 Associate to Watch (Chambers Europe).
